  • Landowners will maintain their ownership and will only surrender part of the underground land to the government for the MRT3 tunnels.
  • Landowners will be relocated during the tunnelling works. The relocation units will be matched to the landowner’s present property conditions,
  • Upon completion of tunnelling works, an inspection of their property will be undertaken and rectification will be carried out for any damage incurred during the tunnelling process.
  • The costs for both the relocation and rectification works will be paid by the government.
  • Affected landowners can voice their feedback regarding the underground land surrender during the Public Inspection.
  • During the Public Inspection, which will be carried out for 3 months starting from Q2, 2024, the details of the areas involved and the list of potential land lots to be acquired will be informed.
  • The list will be finalised within one month after the Public Inspection followed by the Section 8 gazettement of the land acquisition whereby the affected landowners will receive the official notice of the intention to acquire
  • The procedure for land acquisition will be carried out in accordance the Land Acquisition Act (LAA) 1960.
  • The main stages of the process are as follows:
  • Identification of Land: Public will be notified on the possibility of the project passing through their area. This will be carried out under Section 4 the LAA 1960 and is targeted to take place as early as Q3, 2024

    Purpose of this notification is to grant permission for MRT Corp to undertake further land survey & soil investigation studies.

  • Public Inspection: The details of the areas involved in the project will be presented for public feedback under the Public Inspection (PI) programme. Information regarding the Public Inspection will be published in the main newspapers and MRT Corp’s Website and Social Media Platforms 2 weeks prior to the start date of PI.

    Public will be able to provide their feedback via physical and online forms. The feedback will be noted and reviewed by the government before finalisation of the land lots to be acquired.The Public Inspection will be carried out over three months and is targeted to start in Q3, 2024.

  • Finalisation of Land to be Acquired: Following review of the public’s feedback, the government will finalise the affected land lots that will be acquired. This will take place in Q4, 2024.
  • Declaration of Intention to Acquire: The official notice of the intention to acquire will be issued to landowners in accordance to Section 8 of the LAA 1960. This notice is confirmation that your land will be acquired. This process is targeted to start from Q1, 2025.

    After the gazettement of Section 8, a notice will be issued to the affected landowners to attend a land hearing where the compensation amount will be determined. In general, the land hearing will take place 2 weeks after the notice is issued.

  • Notification of Award: The next step in the process is notifying landowners of the compensation amount that has been determined by the Land Administrator based on the valuation by the Property Assessment & Management Department (Jabatan Penilaian & Perkhidmatan Harta). The compensation amount will be in accordance to what was finalised at the land hearing. This will start from Q2, 2025.
  • Payment of Compensation: The next step of the process is the payment of compensation to the landowners. This will take place within 2 weeks – 1 month period from the notification of award with the condition that complete documentation has been provided by the landowner. Payment of compensation will start from Q3, 2025.
  • Notice to Vacate: Landowners are given a timeframe of up to 6 months from the issuance of notice to vacate their land. The issuance of notice to vacate the land will start from Q4, 2025.
  • The depth of the underground alignment will be determined by soil conditions and design requirements, usually ranging from 20 to 35 meters below the ground surface.
  • The height of the elevated alignment will be based on existing ground levels and design requirements, typically ranging from 20 to 30 meters.
  • The stations for the Circle Line (MRT3 will be easy for everyone to use, especially for people with disabilities.
  • This will include features like special tiles on the ground to help people who are visually impaired, toilets for disabled folks, ramps to get around easily, ticket counters that are easy to reach for people in wheelchairs, parking spots for disabled cars and motorcycles, special features in the elevators, and wide gates for passengers in wheelchairs.
